Amitabh Bachchan plays Auro, a 12-year-old suffering from progeria in this iconic 2009 film. The film explores the struggles and adventures that a single mother goes through especially when she has a special child. Vidya Balan plays a gynaecologist who decided to raise her child on her own when her boyfriend tells her to abort their child out of wedlock. She is independent, hard-working and a great mother as is reflected in Auro's values.

Mom
Another iconic role played by Sridevi, the movie is about a biology teacher, Devki, in the same school as her daughter Aarya. When she punishes a group of notorious students for sending offensive videos to her daughter, they decide to get back to her by raping her daughter when she is returning from a party at night. Enraged by the lukewarm response from the police and administration, Devki sets on a dangerous revenge journey where she ends up killing each of her daughter's culprits.

Maatr
This movie was released in 2017 and starred Raveena Tandon, Madhur Mittal, Alisha Khan and Divya Jagdale in lead roles. The movie tells the story of a mother-daughter duo that gets kidnapped ad gang-raped by CM's son and his friends. The daughter could not survive the assault and dies while the mother survives. When the police and administration do not say a word against the CM's son, the mother decides to take revenge in her own way.
Jazbaa
This movie features Imran Khan and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles. The movie is about a single mother and a lawyer by pr0fession, Anuradha, who goes to extreme levels in order to save her kidnapped daughter. The kidnapper wants Anuradha to defend a rapist in order to free her daughter. Firm with her beliefs, she decides to run against time and get her daughter back from his trap on her own.
Tribhanga
Tribhanga ">features a dysfunctional family and its three generations of women who find each other tormenting. The movie stars Kajol, Mithila Palkar and Tanvi Azmi as a trio of mother, daughter and grandmother who are reunited when Tanvi goes into a coma. The mother-daughter duo, Kajol and Mithila. come together to write Tanvi's biography and explore deep and problematic secrets of their past. They realise that they have been blaming each other for various things not knowing that they are all alike and deal with the same problems.

Nil Battey Sannata
The movie features Swara Bhaskar and Riya Shukla as a mother-daughter duo. The story is about Chanda Sahay, a domestic worker who does odd jobs in order to collect enough money to send her daughter to a good school so that she gets a good education, career and future. However, her daughter, Apeksha does not understand the importance of education and wants to become a domestic worker like her mother. Chanda, though illiterate, decides to teach her the importance of a good education and career.
