The national medical director for NHS England Professor Stephen Powis urged caution over Hollywood actor Gwyneth Paltrow's recovery methods for long COVID-19, which she wrote about in her blog. He added that Shakespeare In Love fame actor and other big names have a 'duty of responsibility' when talking about COVID-19 treatments.

Professor Stephen said, "Like the virus, misinformation carries across borders and it mutates and it evolves," he said. "So I think YouTube and other social media platforms have a real responsibility and opportunity here."

"In the last few days, I see Gwyneth Paltrow is, unfortunately, suffering from the effects of COVID-19. We wish her well, but some of the solutions she's recommending are really not the solutions we'd recommend in the NHS," he added.

The actor and wellness guru - who started up company Goop - recently wrote a piece for her website titled GP’s Picks: Healing My Body with a Longer-Term Detox, where she wrote about her own experience with the virus and the recovery from it.

"I had COVID-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog. In January, I had some tests done that showed really high levels of inflammation in my body," Gwyneth wrote in the blog which is now receiving flak from NHS' leading figure. Furthermore, she also revealed that her practitioner told that her recovery was going to be longer than usual.

The 48-year old wrote that a "functional medicine practitioner" had recommended an "intuitive fasting" healing regime. Moreover, Gwyneth added that she was on a mainly "keto and plant-based" diet, with no sugar or alcohol as part of her recovery. She further added that she fasts until 11:00 every day and takes infrared saunas.

However, the NHS England's leading figure evidently refuted her ways and said that some of her methods were really not the solutions they would recommend. He further said, "We need to take long Covid seriously and apply serious science. All influencers who use social media have a duty of responsibility and a duty of care around that."
