The CEO of PVR Cinemas, Kamal Gianchandani, has addressed the "false and negative" media rumours that have been circulating around the recently released movie Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva.

A day before Brahmastra was set to be released on Thursday, some reports stated that the movie had "misfired" for the country's two biggest theatre chains, PVR and INOX, resulting in a significant financial loss for them. On Saturday, Kamal Gianchandani, CEO of PVR Cinemas, responded to "false and negative" information about the movie and clarified the situation.

Kamal Gianchandani answered these rumours on Twitter on Saturday, but did not specifically reference them. He wrote, “It amazes me, the false and negative info about Brahmastra Film on the internet and in the media. Is it a lack of understanding or is it intentionally designed to cast doubts? ”

Further Gianchandani mentioned that PVR outperformed several other recent blockbusters on Friday with a bet box office take of 8.18 crore for Brahmastra. “Just so that we don’t miss crucial facts, I can now confirm that  PVR Cinemas did 8.18 crore Net Box office for #Bramhastra on day one. Given the booking trends, Gianchandani continued that he anticipated the numbers for Saturday and Sunday to be considerably higher. At the box office, Brahmastra had a great debut. On its first day, the Ayan Mukerji movie brought in 75 crore in revenue throughout the globe, including 47 crore at India. Both figures are the highest ever for a Bollywood film released during the pandemic. The fantasy epic features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Shah Rukh Khan in extended cameo appearances along with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Mouni Roy.
