Eamonn Holmes: This Morning’s host Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford made a comeback on the show this week.

Post their return, Holmes faced backlash over his remarks about his wife, Ruth. The presenter was called out on social media by a few fans who claimed that he fat-shamed his wife.

On the episode that aired on Monday, Eamonn and Ruth played the game It’s Behind You on the show, wherein they were trying to guess who was on a screen behind them.

Amid the game, callers shout out clues and one of them said “thin and married to…” as they described Kate Middleton picture.

Before the caller could finish, Holmes interrupted and said, “She’s very thin… well it’s not you darling.”

Fans took to the microblogging site to react to the moment and called out the presenter for his remark

In the recent episode, after the backlash over the fat-shaming incident, the 61-year-old presenter said Ruth has “cloven goat feet”.

As they discussed foot care on the show Ruth said, “It’s been weeks, months since we could last visit a salon. A nail salon particularly. If you’re feet are suffering as a result of that…”

“It’s like sitting beside a goat,” Eamonn then intervened.

Laughing, Ruth agreed, saying: “My pterodactyl feet… I’m surprised I can get my shoes on actually.”

“What does a goat have? A cloven foot? A hoof.”

The presenting duo returned on the show this Monday. Eamonn and Ruth were axed from their regular Friday slot on This Morning in 2020. Later, they were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

On Wednesday, Eamonn took to Twitter, where he shared his views on making a comeback on screen.

“Halfway through This Morning Half Term. Hope u r enjoying it. @RuthieeL and I would like to thank you for such a warm welcome back and maybe you’ll join us from 10 for the rest of the week?” he wrote in the tweet.
