Creators Of The Family Man 2 On Samantha Akkineni Facing Backlash For Her Role

Samantha Akkineni in The Family Man 2: Ahead of the release scheduled for June 4, the OTT show is facing immense backlash along with its star who allegedly "betrayed" Tamils to bag a role in Bollywood. Here is what the creators said about Akkineni portraying the controversial role.

Producer Raj Nidimoru praised Akkineni for choosing to play her role in The Family Man 2, calling it "an extremely risky one". In an interview with the IndianExpress, Nidimoru said, "Someone like her doing this role is very risky. It is brave to say, ‘I am going to let go of all the things people look in me, in my character and I will embrace a completely different, contrasting character and try and do my best with it.'"
Akkineni who has appeared in an aggressive role for the first time and is known for her naive and simple character portrayals faced repression from her fans. On the same, Nidimoru said, "Already there are few comments saying, ‘What did you do to our beautiful Samantha?’ I said she is still beautiful, in just a different role. "
Akkineni was chosen for the role after the creators watched her movie Super Deluxe which portrayed her somewhat completely opposite to her role in The Family Man. However, they still wanted to given Akkineni the chance considering the fact that anyone has done a character like this, let alone Akkineni. Hence, they sorted to "go with the faith in the actor".
Apart from fans who are claiming the 34-year-old actor should have continued with roles portraying her in beautiful character, trolls emerged accusing Akkineni of betraying the Tamils for bagging a role in Bollywood.
