List Of Boycotted Films Turned Into Blockbusters

Brahmastra Part One- Shiva

For varied reasons, social media boycotted Brahmastra. Boycott Brahmastra became popular after a significant portion of people made the decision to completely skip the mythological adventure drama. They began by referring to Bhatt's remarks made during Darlings' promotion, "I'm done defending myself. If you don't like me, don't watch me. " Then Kapoor's beef comment, "being a big beef guy," is another factor that has fueled the hashtag Boycott Brahmastra movement. A number of people argued that regular meat or beef eater is ineligible to portray Shiva and that it is disrespectful to the Hindu faith to advocate for a vegetarian diet.

However, as the film was released, it received a good response at the box office, and today, 10 days later, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva has collected around Rs 200 crore at the domestic box office.

Padmaavat

Padmaavat, one among the boycotted films turned into blockbusters. Strong opposition was raised against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. In addition to being physically harassed on the set, Bhansali received death threats. A boycott was proposed by the Rajputs. The issue reached the Supreme Court, which dismissed the petition for a ban because it violated the rights to freedom of expression and speech. The historical drama went on to become a hit, grossing 585 crores at the box office.

Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela

This Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone film was another Sanjay Leela Bhansali production to draw controversy. Ram-Leela was the first title given to the movie. However, there were a number of protests across the nation because individuals thought this was offensive to religious sentiments. The Delhi High Court then requested that the name be changed by the creators. The movie was then released as Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela. At the box office, it made an estimated 220 crore.

Lipstick Under My Burkha

When it came to the movie's release in India, Lipstick Under My Burkha got off to a very shaky start. Beginning with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC's) denial of certification due to the film's sexual content and crude language, the Board further asserted that the movie was "too lady-oriented." In addition, Muslim leaders in Bhopal demanded a boycott of the film because they felt it offended their community's religious sensibilities. Nevertheless, Lipstick Under My Burkha was favourably appreciated and won multiple national and international prizes after it was ultimately certified.
