Gerren Taylor, model and actor best known for her starring role in American reality show Baldwin Hills, has reportedly died aged 30. The late celebrity’s family hasn’t yet made a statement.

Though the cause of death remains unknown, some initial reports claim Taylor allegedly passed away in her sleep.

Ray Cunningham, Taylor’s colleague from the Black Entertainment Television (BET), the network that aired Baldwin Hills, mourned her death on social media, writing, “Just got the worst news. I hate it’s on the internet already. RIP to my @BET fam, my babes Gerren (Baldwin Hills).”

Baldwin Hills, which aired on BET between 2007 and 2009, followed the lives of wealthy African-American youths in the posh Baldwin Hills neighbourhood in Los Angeles over three seasons.

Taylor along with Moriah Johnson was the main focus of the series. The late actor was known for her sense of high fashion, having modelled and walked the ramp for several American labels. Notable designers included Tommy Hilfiger and Betsey Johnson.

Prior to her reality show appearance, Taylor also appeared in the 2007 documentary America the Beautiful, which took a look at the unrealistic beauty standards of the fashion industry. Having admittedly faced body image issues due to obesity, eating disorder and looks, she had been sensitive to the issue.
