In the opening scene of the minute-long trailer, Hapka is seen entering the courtroom with sunglasses, just as Depp did during the trial. In the trailer, you can see well-known trial sights. A reference to James Franco, who was on Heard's witness list but was never asked to testify, as well as Depp's casual attitude in court and the intense social media monitoring of Heard, are all visible. Additionally, it includes a few flashbacks of Depp and Heard's romance.

The verdict in the six-week Virginia trial was announced on June 1, and according to People, a seven-person jury mostly agreed with Depp, 59, who claimed that Heard, 36, defamed him in her 2018 op-ed about domestic abuse even though she did not specifically mention him in the piece. In a 2018 Washington Post story, Amber Heard called herself a victim of domestic abuse, which caused Johnny Depp to sue her for defaming him. Heard won one of her three defamation counterclaims and received $2 million in damages, while Depp received more than $10 million in damages. Both are currently challenging the verdicts.

On September 30, Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial will make its debut exclusively on the free Tubi streaming service.
