Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa have been granted bail by a special court in Mumbai on Monday. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday arrested Singh over alleged possession and use of drugs. Her husband Limbachiyaa, however, was placed under arrest the next day. After the hearing today, the couple, who got married in 2017, got bail by serving a bond of Rs. 15,000.

1. NCB on Saturday morning raided Singh's residence in Mumbai and her husband Limbachiyaa's production house in Andheri’s Versova.
2. They both had been accused of consuming banned substances by a 21-year-old drug peddler arrested in the Khar Danda area by NCB on Friday. Following the accusation, Singh’s house was raided by NCB.
3. According to the NCB’s submissions in court, the officials allegedly recovered a "small quantity of cannabis (ganja)" (86.5 grams) from their house in suburban Andheri.
4. On Saturday, the agency summoned both Singh and her husband Limbachiyaa for questioning as a part of its ongoing probe into alleged drug nexus in Bollywood. He was reportedly interrogated for over 15 hours.
5. The same day, 36-year-old Singh, who is a popular stand-up comedian, was arrested by the NCB over alleged possession and use of drugs. 33-year-old Limbachiyaa, who is a screenwriter, producer and television personality, was arrested on Sunday.
6. According to Indian Express, Singh later admitted to the consumption of cannabis purchased by her husband. While Limbachiyaa in his statement confessed that he bought ganja from one peddler and kept one bag of the contraband at his office.
7. On Sunday, a Mumbai court had rejected NCB’s request to allow Limbachiyaa’s custodial interrogation and the couple was sent to 14-day judicial custody till December 4.
8. Soon after their arrests, the couple filed bail pleas and sought to be released, following which NCB also filed its replies on the bail pleas today. “As I am busy with other cases today, we will request for some other date of argument,” Special public prosecutor Atul Sarpande told ANI. Their bail applications were heard on Monday.
9. While giving its judgment on their release today, the court observed, “The drug seized from their residence is of a small quantity. Also, it’s a case of consumption only, hence police custody under such circumstances is not required.”
10. Singh and Limbachiyaa were arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act and have been booked under sections 20(b)(ii)(A) (involves small quantity of drugs) and 8(c) (possession of drugs) and 27 (consumption of drugs).
