Punewaali where we celebrate women of Pune. A special event series organized by SheThePeople.TV where we engage conversations with women who observe and storify the city of Pune. Meet two stellar women who live in Pune city and have carved enviable niches for themselves. Both are young, go-getting and have fans by the truck-loads.
Saie Tamhankar is an award-winning actor who has straddled roles of every kind with remarkable poise and comfort. Over the years she has done films and roles that have challenged stereotypes in both Marathi and Hindi films and won her applause and critical acclaim. She is currently reveling in her dramatic transformation into the Marathi film industry's glamorous diva, a star who is completely comfortable in her own skin and unapologetic about her life choices.
Lisa Pingale runs The Monalisa Kalagram, an art gallery tucked away amidst the greenery and towering trees at the family's farm-style home in Koregaon park. Over the last couple of years the Monalisa Kalagram has become a cultural and crafts hub, showcasing art in all its forms, art, photography, sculpture, music, dance, etc. On moonlit nights, Punekars now watch their favorite movie under the stars, much like the Drive-Ins of a few decades ago.
The session will be moderated by Sudha Menon.
Sudha Menon is a journalist and the author of four best-selling non-fiction books, including Leading Ladies: Women Who Inspire India, and Devi, Diva or She-Devil: The smart career woman’s survival guide. She is the founder of writing workshop series, Get Writing and Writing With Women. Sudha has been a speaker on the prestigious TEDx and TiECon platforms and is an invited speaker on gender and diversity issues at corporate campuses and educational institutes.
