For generations, periods have been cloaked in shame, whispered about in hushed tones, and hidden behind euphemisms. But the time has come to change the conversation. SheThePeople joined Whisper India to support their #PeriodOfPride campaign — a bold movement to normalise periods and dismantle the stigma that surrounds them. Because periods are not a problem. They are a part of life — natural, normal, and worthy of pride.
#PeriodOfPride was about encouraging open conversations around menstruation, challenging taboos, and fostering a culture where people — especially young girls — can speak about their periods without fear, shame, or embarrassment.
This initiative came at a time when period shame still impacts millions of girls across India — affecting their self-esteem, education, and even health. By addressing these challenges head-on, SheThePeople and Whisper India are creating a safe space for honest dialogue and community support.
Through a series of videos, static and carousel posts, the campaign invites people to join the conversation, share their stories, and own their menstrual journey with pride.
User-Driven, Community-Led
One of the most compelling aspects of the campaign is its focus on user-generated content. By encouraging people to share their personal experiences, #PeriodOfPride becomes more than just a campaign — it becomes a movement led by the very people it's meant to empower.
From schoolgirls sharing their first-period stories to mothers talking to their daughters without hesitation, the response has been emotional, uplifting, and deeply real.

Why It Matters
Changing mindsets doesn’t happen overnight. But every post, every story, and every voice that joins the campaign is a step toward a future where menstruation is not a secret but a shared human experience — talked about openly and with pride.
