Shahrukh wowed the crowd with a short poem at the book launch of She Walks She Leads by debutante author Gunjan Jain who has put together voices of women from different walks of life. In the poem, he spoke of strong girls and their 'strength.'

The poem that he wrote was after being inspired by a quote written by Zayn Malik, an English singer, he had read once when he met Malik in London. The Poem goes like:

This is for girls who stay up all night,

This is for you who are willing to fight,

For hidden fears,

Hurt, pain, and tears,

Under the smiles, laughs, and giggles we hear.

Let your hair down, straight or curls,

You’re beautiful because you fight like a girl.

For girls who wears short skirts,

And their heart on their sleeve,

For girls who know how difficult,

It is to believe,

The girls who scream and cry,

Into their pillows and tell them their goals,

For girls who have a secret,

But can’t tell a soul.

Let your eyes be your diamond,

Make them your pearls,

You’re beautiful because you fight like a girl.

For girls who have made mistakes,

And have regrets galore,

Because you fight like a girl.

For the girls who love with all their heart,

Although it sometimes gets broke,

To who think it’s over,

To real girls, to all girls,

Who have tears to soak.

You throw, you pick up, and fall,

But just tell the world,

“I’m beautiful,

Because I fight like a girl.”

To me the most powerful part of the poem is when he says, “You’re beautiful because you fight like a girl.” Because for years its been drilled into our heads as society that when you do something ‘like a girl’, it is considered to be weak and fragile. But Shahrukh in that one line completely turns its meaning around and asks women and young girls to wear that strength on their sleeves.

While so many actors are talking about women and empowerment these days, Shahrukh is the first one to actually write a poem about it. This not just means he thinks in that direction but actually ponders on it and writes a poem about it, considering how busy a man he is. More and more actors are needed to support, promote and take active part in the cause of women’s empowerment because of the reach that they have and their ability to inspire many many voices and thoughts.
