Long distance relationship get complicated because that extra distance makes many things unachievable and you feel lonely when you need your partner the most. The wait for your partner sometimes makes you impatient and you will be haunted by the question that," he/she worth of waiting"? Your best friend may advice you not to take it too seriously, but ultimately it depends on you and your efforts to keep your relationship alive. You have to make your mind to deal with two most important decisions of your life simultaneously. One is your career which you are pursuing in abroad and the other is your love life and commitment to your partner.

Here are five ways by which you can survive a long-distance relationship while studying abroad:

Give your partner a proper time

Every relationship demands time which allow you to communicate with your partner regularly. Keep the communication open, write messages, call each other and tell your partner about your plans and schedule. If you think that there is a communication gap, then mutually decide a time to talk to each other. Ensure your partner that you are always there for him/her, despite any situation.

Prioritise your partner

Studying abroad is a bit challenging as it takes time to adapt oneself in the new cultural environment. Never let your partner feel that his/her importance diminishes as you interact with new people. Your love partner should always hold a special place in your heart.

Remain honest

Fidelity is the basic foundation for any relationship. When you are in abroad there might be moments when you feel giving up in your relationship. At that point of time don't try to hide something from your partner, rather than discuss it with your partner and try to cultivate transparency. The decision must be consensual without any emotional setback for anyone.

Be supportive

Love isn't limited to fancy dates, expensive gifts or late-night talks. It's about making your partner aware of their potentials and encouraging them to actualize these potentialities. Mentor each other in any specific field you are more proficient than your partner. Also to be emotionally supportive to your partner is equally important. Shower them some care and affection so that they feel special.

Make sure that the distance is temporary

A long-distance relationship cannot survive without hope. And for there to be hope, there must be a possibility that the two people involved will one day be together. Always remember that love is not enough. You both need to have an outlook to life that are aligned, shared values and mutual interests. When two people are apart its too easy to idealize and romanticize each other. It's too easy to get caught up in the drama of our minds instead of calm and boring truths of Our heart. You should make your partner remind that the wait and patience in relationship will find it's worth one day.
