And so, centenarian Kamala is divulging tips to a hundred years of happiness!
The 100-year-old grandma has "seen it all," she says in a video of her by Humans of Bombay now going viral on the internet. From surviving World War II to another pandemic before COVID-19 to witnessing Indian independence, Kamala's life has been rich with experiences.
Naturally, she has amassed much to impart.
"Have an open mind, be accepting," she begins with youthful elegance, going on to tell her listeners the importance of changing with the times, having that slice of pizza, meditating daily, and most significantly, ignoring the 'log kya kahenge's.
"Don't take life too seriously and you'll definitely hit a century!"
Watch below:
Born in the December of 1920, Kamala has ended up "witnessing and experiencing some of the most crucial and world-changing events in human history," her granddaughter Pranita Ghate writes in a post marking her milestone birthday last year.
In a time when the world was going through an upheaval - the Great Depression, Hiroshima bombings, India under colonial rule - Kamala was "adapting and embracing the change."
Several such heartwarming stories of older women living life young, proving age is just a number, have surfaced in recent times. Bhageerathi Amma, who today passed away, was famously the oldest student in Kerala at age 107. Only two years ago, she had passed her class four examinations and was raring to pack in as much education as she still could. These older women, meanwhile, are also defying stigmas attached to age by just being themselves. More stories here.
