Puducherry schools: Students belonging to class 1 to 9 from all Puducherry schools have been directly promoted to the next class.
The Puducherry Directorate of School Education has declared the same owing to the setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Schools will continue functioning till March 31
Another directive for conducting a 'stress-free assessment has also been issued. Besides that, schools in Puducherry will be functioning till March 31, for classes 1 to 9, and summer vacations will begin from 1 April.
Students from classes 10 and 11 from Puducherry will be promoted as per the guidelines issued by the Tamil Nadu Board.
A senior official from the union territory's Department of Health and Family Welfare said that Puducherry has witnessed 14 new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The overall figure of the cases has now risen to 40,044 as of Monday.
Tamil Nadu decides on cancelling exams for classes 9, 10 and 11
The Tamil Nadu government had earlier declared that no exams will be conducted for students belonging to classes 9, 10 and 11, and that they will be promoted directly. Reports said that students will be assessed according to their internal assessment marks. However, the state had decided on conducting the exams for class 12 between May 3 and May 21 and had also released the timetable for the same.
