US footballer Ali Krieger adopts daughter with partner and teammate Ashlyn Harris: The United States women's national soccer team players Ali Kreiger and Ashlyn Harris announced that they have adopted a daughter on Sunday. The Orlando Pride captains, who married in 2019, took to Instagram to announce the arrival of their adopted baby girl, Sloane Philips, who was born on Feb. 12.

In her Instagram post, Krieger, along with Harris, vowed to Sloane's birth mother to keep her involved in her daughter's life.

We promise to be open minded and respect your wishes to have future communication and that she will always know how much you love her: Ali Krieger adopts daughter with partner and teammate Ashlyn Harris.

Krieger also shared, "We promise to give her the tools to live a happy, successful life of inclusivity and support. We promise to share her adoption story with her from the very beginning and celebrate every milestone!"

This is the first time the couple publicly announced they would be mothers after previously discussing the idea of surrogacy and adoption.

Krieger is a defender and Harris is a goalkeeper with the US women's national team (USWNT), and both played instrumental roles in winning the 2019 World Cup. The pair also plays professionally for the Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).

"We've talked about surrogates, we've talked about adoption, and it's just really tough because what — are we going to take the child everywhere?" Harris had told People last July. "I mean, we've been home for seven days in the last three months."

Krieger and Harris were married in a ceremony officiated by USWNT and Pride teammate Sydney Leroux. The couple met for the first time at a USWNT camp in 2010. "When we first dated, we always spoke about adoption and always wanted to give a child a loving, happy and stable home," Krieger wrote. "I cannot wait to give her the world and be the best Mom I can be with you right by my side."

The couple is now preparing for NWSL play scheduled to start on April 9.
