Since 1988, Abigail has been wed to Christopher J. McKown. He is the CEO of the healthcare information firm Iora Health. Along with their two daughters, the couple resides in the town of Milton in Greater Boston. One daughter is a college student, while the other is a high school student.

Fidelity Investments initially known as 'Fidelity Funds', was incorporated in the year 1930 by Edward Johnson II, the grandfather of Abigail, which was presided over by Edward Johnson III, father of Abigail.

Currently, the company is known as Fidelity Management & Research (FMR).

It was in the year 1988 when Abigail joined Fidelity Investments as an Analyst after she completed her graduation from the prestigious Harvard Business School. After a long term at the firm, in 2014, Abigail was announced as the CEO of the company, which later followed by being the chairwoman of FMR in 2016.
