Nestled within our bodies, the thyroid gland stands as a silent architect, orchestrating the symphony of various physiological processes. Thyroid hormone (TH) is not just a metabolic maestro; it also plays a crucial role in normal endochondral ossification, contributing to skeletal development, linear growth, maintenance of bone mass, and even efficient fracture healing.

Crucial for overall bodily functions, thyroid hormones extend their influence on our muscles, especially the skeletal ones. Deep within our muscles, there exist essential elements known as DIO2 and DIO3. DIO2 plays a key role by transforming a hormone called T4 into an active form named T3. This T3 can either remain within the muscle cells or venture outside, affecting neighbouring cells. On the flip side, DIO3 deactivates T3.

This intricate system operates like a smart regulator, finely adjusting the levels of T3 within our muscle cells. This process is particularly significant during various stages of muscle development, offering insights into the delicate dance of growth and repair within our bodies.
