IAS Officer Tina Dabi Appointed As An Honorary Advisor By BRICS

Tina Dabi is the only IAS officer among the honorary advisors to the committee.

The steering committee for BRICS (association of Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa) Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Young Leaders has appointed IAS Officer Tina Dabi as an honorary advisor. She will hold the post for the session 2020 to 2023. Dabi was the topper of the 2015 civil services examination and is currently serving as sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara.

BRICS CCI is a registered body that is also empanelled with NITI Aayog and recognized by United Nations. Dabi, a Lady Shri Ram College Poltical Science graduate is the only IAS officer among the honorary advisors to the committee.

“Your expertise as an achiever is a fitting example of a role model for the youth in a global society. We strongly believe that your vision will inspire our motive further,” Deepanga Singhi, assistant director of BRICS CCI stated in a letter, declaring Dabi’s appointment.

The BRICS CCI Young Leaders Initiative aims to equip young leaders to become efficacious contributors to global development. It will also help them in exploring sustainable work opportunities across member nations Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa.

"I look at it as a wonderful opportunity since it is with regard to youth leadership. Since youth is the future, we are tapping into huge potential,” Dabi told TOI.

Tina attained nationwide recognition after she secured first rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Examination 2015. At just 22, she cracked one the toughest competitive exams in the nation. She majored in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University and graduated as a university topper. Dabi is one of the youngest toppers of the UPSC exam and also the first Dalit person to do so. Training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) for two years, Dabi acquired the President’s gold medal in 2018. She also secured the first rank in the Order of Merit.

Dabi is also known for her pivotal role in formulating Bhilwara’s ‘ruthless containment’ model to combat COVID-19. It comprised of lockdown, screening, testing, district isolation, and rigorous village monitoring.
