Rubina won the Miss Shimla title in 2006. She also is an interior designer by profession. In 2015, she was bestowed with the honour of Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

Rubina Dilaik played the role of a transgender in the serial Shakti. She was praised massively for it. This was what she said:

"The feedback has been absolutely positive so far. I never thought that such a concept would be accepted and appreciated. When I was offered this role, I had a little apprehension about this role because many of contemporaries had rejected this role. Nobody was sure about it. There were lots ifs and buts. Nonetheless, I always knew that I wouldn’t get to play a character like Soumya. The concept of the show is unique and it has been attempted for the first time on Indian television so I’m happy that my risk has paid off."

Bigg Boss attempted to clarify to her that the remarks were in a positive mood and that Salman did not say it in the wrong way. Rubina, however, did not discount her decision and said she decided to leave the show and could not work in such a position.

9. Controversy with Sonali Phogat

After Arshi Khan was told that someone broke her name tag, Sonali Phogat engaged in a heated argument with Rubina Dilaik. Sonali lost her temper and threw a fit of rage at her. Rubina got into a dispute that ended up splitting the housemates, when the latter used the name of Sonali's daughter in one of the discussions, disrupting Sonali in between and telling her not to use such abusive language.
