Twitter is the most interesting platform in the social media world. We see people coming together in the strangest of ways for the strangest of reasons. Recently Twitterati met with a pleasant surprise when they saw #SareeTwitter trending. A trend that piqued interests of thousands of women as they picked up the trend and followed it by posting graceful pictures of them, draped in beautiful sarees showing off our Indian heritage.
#SareeTwitter has been one of the top trends since Monday and by Tuesday it was already a massive hit.
The trend has shown the timeless beauty of sarees and that nothing beautifies an Indian woman more than a traditional saree. Time and again when Western and fast changing fashion trends become overbearing, we are reminded of our roots by our grandmothers and mothers, the beautiful actresses of yesteryear and even today and the charm their sarees had on everyone.
From common people to celebrities, everyone participated in the trend. The reason for the trend is still unknown, but by far this is one of the best trends and an example of women solidarity that is much needed in today’s times.
Celebrities soon joined in

Now that @MaryKayCarlson has left Delhi, I am stepping up for my diplomatic sisters on #SareeTwitter. This saree was part of my Mum’s wedding trousseau. Yes, it’s older than me! 😊 pic.twitter.com/Zi71zMFIRS
