Lisa Ashton has become the first woman to qualify for the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) Tour Card in Wigan. As reported by Femina, she is the Women's World No. 1 darts player. The 49-year-old grabbed the twelfth and final spot via the order of merit. This remarkable success implies that Ashton is all set to compete on the two-year-long PDC Tour. At an age when most women retire from their careers, Ashton made history.

Lisa is a four-time British Darts Organisation women’s world champion and competed at the PDC World Championship in 2019. However, she lost to Jan Dekker in the first round itself. Since she managed to register a triumph on the final day of qualifying school, Ashton now holds an opportunity to compete on the full PDC circuit. Moreover, she gains a place at the UK Open in Minehead to be held in March.

She is the first woman to win a Tour Card from Q School, although Stacy Bromberg and Tricia Wright were granted cards in 2011 after reaching the PDC Women's World Championship final in 2010. Talking about the inspiring victory, Ashton said, “To come through a field that had 500 men, I couldn't be any happier. I want to play in all the tournaments I can. I'm going to have a damned good go at whoever I play. They need to be ready.”
