Meet Poorna Malavath, Mountaineer Scales 7 Highest Mountains In 7 Continents

Malavath scaled the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, back in May 2014. Being only 13 years old at the time, she holds the record for being the youngest female in the world to climb Mount Everest.

Poorna Malavath created history after she became successful in scaling the seven highest mountains of the world across seven continents. Malavath, a mountaineer from Telangana, has successfully completed her mission of conquering all the highest mountains in the world.

Poorna Malavath climbed Mount Denali (6,190mt) - the highest on the North American continent. Born on 10 June 2000, Poorna hails from the district of Nizamabad, Telangana. She is the daughter of farm labourers and belongs to a tribal community. She is currently a post-graduate student at the Osmania University in Hyderabad and has a degree from the TSWR Degree College, Ibrahimpatnam.

She has previously conquered Mt Everest (Asia), Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt Elbrus (Europe), Mt Aconcagua (South America), Puncak Jaya/Mt Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania), Mt Vinson (Antarctica) before she finally climbed Mt Denali (North America) completing her mission.

Shekhar Babu, Poorna Malavath's coach confirmed her success in completing her mission. He said, "Poorna Malavath spoke over satellite phone after coming to lower camps from the summit and shared the news of her successful summit. She is very happy to climb this mountain."

Malavath, talking more about finally completing her 'Seven Summit Challenge' has said, "It all started with Chairman of Ace Engineering Academy, Dr. RS Praveen Kumar sir. I always thank him for motivating me in my mountaineering journey. The opportunity given by Dr. Praveen Kumar sir will always be cherished by me. He trained me a lot and was always supportive of my profession. With his proper guidance, I have scaled up in this field and feel truly humbled."

She also added that Mt Denali proved to be a much harder climb than Mt Everest saying, "It was a very different experience for me because every mountain has its own difficulties. I had to train for two-three months. I had to work very hard. I had to work on my diet and exercise regularly. Climbing Mt Denali was very tough but my passion took me to the top. I thank those who have supported me."

Poorna has definitely proven that girls can do anything that they set their minds on. Previously during an interview after conquering Mt Everest, Poorna said, “We get very few opportunities, so when you do get an opportunity, you must utilize it. A lot of people will keep telling you that ‘you can’t do this, you can’t do that’ but we can do everything because we are born winners and anything is possible.”
