'Chhapaak' Declared Tax Free In Puducherry, MP And Chhattisgarh

Deepika Padukone starred Chhapaak declared tax free in Puducherry, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The film is based on real-life story acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal. This announcement was made one day prior to the release date of Chhapaak.

Chhapaak Declared Tax-Free

Narayanasamy, Cheif Minister of Puducherry announced the news through his official Twitter handle. He tweeted “Govt of Puducherry will give tax relief to Chhapaak film acted by Deepika Padukone which gives a clear picture of women issues.”

Kamalnath, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh also declared Chhapaak Tax free in Madhya Pradesh. He further tweeted that Chhapaak creates awareness about acid attacks and also showcases self-confidence, struggle, hope and passion in the lives of acid attack survivors. He further added to his tweet that the movie aims to change the perspective of society in such issues.

The movie is based on the real-life story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.

Bhupesh Baghel, Cheif Minister of Chhattisgarh also declared Chhapaak tax free in the state and announced the same through his Twitter handle. He tweeted that the film Chhapaak will create awareness on the disgraceful crime of acid attack. He also requested people to go watch the movie in order to be aware of the crime.

Randeep Surejwala, spokesperson of congress tweeted “Chappaak is not about an artist but 1,000 women who suffer acid attacks on their body and soul every year. Isn’t this the same?”

However, Right-wing supporters took on social media and demanded that people boycott the movie after Deepika visited JNU.  She stood in solidarity with the students who attacked by masked goons. Supreme Court asked the makers of the movie to give Aparna due credit. Besides all the obstacles the movie received a good response from its audience.
