BSF Constable Arrested For Winking At Woman In Delhi Bus

Border Security Force personnel are some of the most trusted men in the country. But when they end up harassing women, the force gets a bad name. Recently, a BSF constable was arrested after he was caught winking at a woman travelling in a DTC bus in Delhi's South Campus Area.

The 24-year-old woman filed a complaint against the constable. She said in the FIR that the incident occurred on her way to work near Satya Niketan on a DTC bus route number 711, reported TOI. Employee at an NGO in RK Puram, she boarded the bus from Janakpuri. Soon, the accused, who the police identified as 28-year-old Charan Singh stood next to her and kept staring at her. When she asked him the reason for staring at her, he winked and smiled in response.

The police found out that Singh was in a state of intoxication. They took him to the hospital for a medical checkup

The woman then alerted other passengers in the bus with her who united and forced the bus driver to stop the vehicle. The crowd informed the police and they arrested Singh on the spot. Cops told the media that Singh was not on duty when the incident took place.

DCP (southwest) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere confirmed that they have received a complaint against a BSF personnel and registered an FIR under IPC section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

Police added that they have served a notice to the accused under section 411-(a) of the CrPc. If convicted, the accused may have to serve imprisonment which may extend for a year, pay a fine or both, quoted Indian Express.
