Mona Eltahawy

Firebrand feminist Mona Eltahawy, the author of Headscarves and Hymens: Why the Middle East Needs a Sexual Revolution talks about some of the most pressing issues faced by feminists today. She was in Delhi recently to attend The Bridge, an event on gender empowerment to which we were partners. Eltahawy packed in meetings with several feminists, met more than one who chanted 'Fuck the Patriarchy', and is as outspoken and kick-ass as you would expect. Here she is speaking to SheThePeople.TV's editor at-large Amrita Tripathi about the relevance of feminism, her message to young people, her thoughts on the challenges for Muslim feminists in India, and indeed the challenges of being seen as any sort of spokesperson.
