Every year, the government and other institutions introduce awards and schemes to honour women scientists and researchers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). This year too, multiple women got recognised not just by the government but also by global institutions. 

Sumita Mitra won one of the most prestigious innovation prizes in Europe. Her invention uses nanomaterials as a dental filler.

In 2018, Sumita Mitra was inducted to into the US National Inventors Hall of Fame for her breakthrough work in dental filling materials.
