Priya Darshini has amalgamated different styles, genre and cultures. She explores a feminist perspective in the album and traces her identity as a South Indian living in New York.

Born in Mumbai to a Tamil family, Darshini is trained in Carnatic music and makes cross-cultural music. She made her debut album Periphery, a fusion of American hip hop and Carnatic, which got her Grammy nomination.
