The Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) is all set to put the spotlight on women through its theme Women First, Prosperity for All. As the platform that empowers women entrepreneurs SheThePeople.TV spoke to entrepreneurs across India about what there biggest challenges were.

Funding

Funding remains a key challenge for women. It's not so much about getting the final lot of money but about how to go about it. Access to funds, the right platforms and right investors is where the gaps are.

Network

In the absence of many networks, relationship building platforms, women find themselves trapped in small regional spaces. Mentorship & Incubation

There is a gap in mentorship and sponsorship for women at work. Additionally for women entrepreneurs the same is reflected through the challenges of lack of female-focus in incubation centres. So why do women need specific kind of incubation approach. "The business model and advise must come on merit. Nonetheless, incubation centres need to have an approach that's conscious of biases, problems women face and their real world challenges of maternity and mobility," said another entrepreneur in our survey.

Women entrepreneurs in India are central to the country’s StartUp boom. They are redefining the way India does business & grows its reach. From ecommerce to social impact, women are pairing intellect, business acumen and their special skills to transform economic growth. However they are challenges they face – sometimes as gender discrimination and at other times for scaling up, growth and mentorship.
