“It is a very depressing time for my family. Ritika was a talented wrestler and I don’t know why she had to take this drastic step,” Geeta Phogat tweeted.
Ritu Phogat, who is playing the MMA these days, tweeted, “Rest in Peace choti behen Ritika. I still can’t believe what just happened with you Will miss you forever.”
After losing a wrestling match by a single point, Ritika reportedly died by suicide at the age of 17.
Geeta Phogat was the first Indian woman wrestler to qualify for the Olympics in 2012.
“I will participate and try to book a place for the Olympics,” said Geeta.
