"I don't want a car; I want a house for my family, which includes mother, sister and brothers"- Cricketer Rajeshwari Gayakwad

But she politely rejected the offer, saying, “Sir, it's very kind of you for having made the gesture. But I don't want a car; I want a house for my family, which includes mother, sister and brothers. Shelter is we what we badly need now,” reported TOI.

The minister took notice of Gayakwad's request and told her that he will look into the matter.

Earlier an automobile company asked the minister to hand over the keys of a car to Gayakwad which she accepted. The minister praised her for her strong game. He congratulated her for performing tremendously in this year’s World Cup and for making a mark for herself on the global map. He also recollected her father Shivanand Gayakwad’s contribution to the game.

In an interview with SheThePeople.TV, Gayakwad mentioned that she always wanted to play for India from the first day. “But I did not know that the women’s team doesn’t get much support. Nevertheless, things are much better now under BCCI than what our seniors had warned us about. Having said that, a lot needs to be done still and we hope it is only going to get better from now on.”
