Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Terms Homosexuality A Tendency, Slammed

Humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar thinks “homosexuality is a tendency” and that one’s sexual orientation is not a permanent thing and potentially changeable. With this controversial statement, he is receiving severe backlash.

Sri Sri was at the Jawaharlal Nehru University when a student asked him how he should handle his family and friends who mistreated him for his sexual orientation. The spiritual leader then said, "You don't think you are sick or something is wrong with you. If you stand up, nobody can insult you, but...if you feel bad about yourself, nobody can make you feel better."

"This is your tendency now...know that this tendency is not a permanent thing. It may change. I've seen many men who were gay later turn into heterosexuals, and there are those who are normal, who are called straight people, end up being gay later in life," he stated

Following news of this comment, actress Sonam Kapoor took to social media to criticise the founder of Art of Living Foundation. She wrote:

We at SheThePeople.TV reached out to Vivek Tejuja, a publishing professional, for his opinion on the matter. He explained, "I think it is just lame for him to say what he did. You cannot change from homosexual to heterosexual and vice-versa. Either you are or you aren't. And that too to say it to an impressionable 22-year-old, as though he wanted him to try it all and then decide? That's not how it works or should."
