The outrage against Bam was triggered after a writer named Ashish Nautiyal posted a snippet from the video, which has now got over 12 million views, on Twitter. In the short video, Bam is shown asking for an automatic car. However, instead of a car dealer, his character ends up talking with what seems like a solicitor for prostitutes, to whom Bam asks, "Pahadan chalegi (Will a model from hilly areas do)?"

After many users tagged NCW and urged it to take action, the commission tweeted, "@NCWIndia has taken cognisance Chairperson @sharmarekha has written to @CPDelhi to register FIR & to take strict action in the matter. NCW has also written to Secy, Ministry of Electronics & IT to take appropriate action against the YouTube channel for violating the dignity of women."

As per the recent update, the section of the video mentioning pahadi women has been removed. The video was uploaded on March 25. It was originally seven minutes and 15 seconds long. However, the edited video still objectifies women, as in the same sequence a character mentions, "...he is saying it is a great model, you can take it from behind also."

Bam is one of the popular personalities in India and has recently created history by becoming the first Indian YouTuber to reach 10 million subscribers. He has also appeared in a short film called Plus Minus, alongside Divya Dutta.
