A man in Pune allegedly gouged out an eye of a 37-year-old woman after she resisted his rape attempt. The incident reportedly took place at around 11 pm on Wednesday night in the Shirur area of Pune district of Maharashtra when the woman had gone out to relieve herself.
The accused stabbed the eye of the survivor after she shoved him away
According to the reports, the woman had gone out of her home to answer nature’s call when a stranger tried to molest her after having grabbed her from behind. He reportedly tried forcing himself on her. When the survivor resisted his attempt, he stabbed an eye of the woman with a sharp-edged weapon. A young boy, who is a resident of the area, reportedly raised an alarm after he found the woman lying near the road that connects the residential area with Nhavare village in Shirur.
“I was at home and had just finished dinner. Our granddaughter was with us and my wife took her to her mother, our elder daughter, who is married and lives nearby. On her way back home, after dropping our granddaughter, my wife went to this open ground which is used by people of the area for relieving themselves,” the survivor’s husband said in a statement.
The husband reported that the accused tried to grab the survivor from behind, but the woman shoved him away. It seemed as if the accused had gone away, but he came back and rammed her head against a rock. When she started losing consciousness, he pulled out a sharp object and injured her eye.
