18-Yr-Old Claims Pune Doctor Raped Her At His Clinic

An 18-year-old girl in Pune has accused a doctor of sedating and raping her on the pretext of treatment. According to the girl, this incident happened in Dhankawadi area in the city in September last year when she went to the doctor’s clinic for treatment.

According to the police, the doctor allegedly gave her sedatives through an injection, which made her lose consciousness. He then allegedly raped her. The girl claimed that she was threatened by the doctor to keep quiet. The HT reported, “The police officials said that Dr Shah examined her and gave her a tablet for consumption, following which she became unconscious. Before giving her the tablet, she was administered an injection. After taking the tablet, the victim fell unconscious, following which he raped her.”

When she regained consciousness, Dr Shah reportedly threatened to kill her and her parents with a pistol if she spoke about the incident.

The revelation

The college student finally spoke to her mother about the incident a few days ago, after which the family decided to lodge an FIR against the doctor.

The Indian Express reported, “The police have initiated a probe in the case, but the accused has not been arrested. He got himself admitted to a hospital citing sudden illness.”

The doctor, identified as Uday Shah, will be questioned once he starts recovering. Meanwhile, an investigation is going on regarding the allegations and the police is looking into the sequence of the events. So far, the investigations reveal that the family had known the doctor for a long time.

Besides rape charges, police have invoked sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, against the doctor.
