A major medical goof-up took place in Uttar Pradesh when three women were allegedly administered anti-rabies vaccine instead of Covid vaccine on Thursday.
The three elderly women in the age group of 60 to 72 reached Kandhala Community Health Centre of Shamli to get their first COVID jab. Due to medical negligence, one of the women, whose condition started to deteriorate, was rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
A health worker asked these women to get a syringe of Rs 10 each from outside and later they were given the anti-rabies injection.
When the women approached a private doctor, he revealed that the woman has been given anti-rabies vaccine at the health centre.
A local NDTV reporter, shared the news on Twitter and stated that the pharmacist responsible for the negligence has been suspended.
“Three elderly women in western UP’s Shamli out to get the #COVID jab at a govt hospital were instead given the anti rabies vaccine in a major goof up , the @UPGovt has acknowledged . A pharmacist has been suspended,” the tweet read.
