The incident occurred Wednesday night, police officials said. This comes amid a rising surge in the national count of coronavirus cases, with the tally being led by Maharashtra.

Woman Drowns In Maharashtra: How COVID-19 Rise Is Affecting Families

The male deceased was a 40-year-old labourer from Telangana who had come to Loha for employment, as per authorities. He passed away on April 13 at a hospital.

The late couple is reportedly survived by two children.

The rise in COVID-19 deaths during India’s ongoing second wave has prompted unrest in many states across India, where families of the deceased are alleging inadequacy and shortage in medical facilities.

In Bihar, for instance, the family of a man who died of COVID-19 vandalised Mayaganj hospital in Bhagalpur. In Madhya Pradesh, another patient passed away allegedly after his oxygen support was removed by the staff, ANI reported.

Amid mounting cases, social media is crowded with requests from family members and friends of affected persons seeking hospital beds and medicine, in states like Delhi and Maharashtra, which are reporting a paucity of resources.
