The future is now: Women in leadership

Since the turn of the century more and more women have been leaving home to work and support their families. There are still hundreds of problems and issues that surround women and their growth but what cannot be ignored is the great progress we have already made. Faith Popcorn, Founder and CEO of Faith Popcorn's BrainReserve, believes the ‘SHErevolution’ is already here.

Compared to men, women are earning 10 million more degrees and currently more than 60% of the university graduates in the world are women. With increasing educational and career opportunities, women now have options as well as support from families to break the marriage-wife-mother shackles. More and more women are customizing their lives to suit their interests and ambitions.

Many women are choosing to have children later to concentrate on their careers. When women decide to have and raise children at a younger age, there career gap comes after very little experience. Because of this, its all the more difficult for them to find jobs later. When women choose to have children after spending crucial and longer years in their fields or organizations, they’re presence is felt and after a career break, they have better chances at landing jobs.

More and more women are also deciding to not have kids. In almost all cultures, no matter who is the breadwinner of the family, women always have to end up being caretakers to children. Women choosing to take this option have time and resources to not only give their 100% to their careers, but also to participate in cultural, social activities- activities that otherwise have to be sacrificed in order to balance work and life.

Women are collectively earning $18 trillion per year. In China, over half the senior management positions are held by women- twice the world average. In the US, over 30% businesses are owned by women. All of this is collectively responsible for the annual revenue of 10 million that is generated by women alone.
