Pune Shooting Range Condition Upsets Heena

This is not a first time an Indian sportsperson has expressed dissatisfaction while on a tour. Shooter Heena Sidhu, a World Cup finals gold medallist, on Monday took to Twitter to put across annoyance with the condition of the shooting range in Pune.

Came to pune for training before the nationals. But the range is just falling apart. More than half of d lanes arnt even working. Very sad.

The forthcoming 60th National shooting championships in rifle and pistol is scheduled from December 13 to 26, for which the athlete has come to Pune for the pre-game preparation. Apparently, Heena had to wait in line before she got her chance to shoot at the complex in Mhalunge-Balewadi, TOI reports.

The Olympian is upset to see such bad service and said that the range in Pune is in poor condition and the training schedule of many national shooters are getting hampered.

“I don’t want to say anything about the range. One should come down and have a look. Yes, the range is in a bad shape but I do not wish to elaborate any further,” Heena said, as reported by Indian Express.

Former Olympian and Pune-based shooter Anjali Bhagwat has also expressed her displeasure with the shooting range, TOI reported.

Heena recently backed out of the Asian Airgun Shooting Championship in Iran due to her disagreement with the compulsory hijab rule for all women athletes.

The 27-year-old is the first Indian pistol shooter to be ranked world number one.
