Mysuru Gangrape Case Investigation: In yet another development during the investigation of Mysuru gangrape case, the survivor recently identified accused men from photographs that were sent to her. According to police, the survivor still remains under treatment at hospital.
A news report says that when the survivor was sent photographs, she managed to recognise all her attackers. Since she still remains traumatic, the police is yet to record her statement. This new development comes while the police is still hunting for a seventh accused in the case, having made six arrests so far.
Yet another report claimed that this was not the gang’s first such crime. The gang reportedly targeted couples at secluded spots in the district. While earlier it was reported that the perpetrators were students of a reputed engineering college, reports now suggest that the accused are daily wage workers, one of them even involved in theft of sandal trees. Two of the accused men were allegedly involved in robberies across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Mysuru Gangrape Case
A 23-year-old MBA student was allegedly gangraped on August 24 by a group of men while she was returning from Chamuli Hill in the evening with a friend. Her male companion was reportedly assaulted as well. The accused had demanded three lakh rupees from the two. When the survivors couldn’t arrange the money, the group allegedly raped the woman. Her friend later told the police that the accused had filmed the incident and threatened to put it online. The duo was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
Soon after the incident the police managed to nab six suspects in the case. However, the incident also led to a regressive circular being issued by the University of Mysore, which restricted movement of girls students on the campus after 6:30 PM. No such restrictions were issued for male students. After much social media outrage, the circular was retracted. Read more on that here.
