Mumbai orphan girl raped: Three men allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old orphan girl at Vasai in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. Three accused have been arrested in the case under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape), 376 (D) (gangrape) of the IPC and section 6 of the POCSO Act, an official said on August 28.

Vasai Police officials arrested three men on Saturday for allegedly raping the 17-year-old orphan. An official added that, the accused had also sexually assaulted her previously on multiple occasions since last year.
According to a report by The Hindu, the survivor was living on a footpath as her landlord asked her to leave her previous place following the death of her father last year. Her mother earlier deserted the family, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Pradeep Jadhav said.

The minor was found by a team of police while she was near the Vasai railway station area on August 3. As per reports, she wasn’t able to share any information immediately as she appeared to be under trauma. Following the same, the team sent her to a local NGO and conducted a medical examination. The results revealed that she was sexually assaulted, a police official said.
The survivor could only take the name of Ajay as the accused and the team initiated the probe on the basis of the same. Gradually, she opened up shared further details about the incident.
The police team checked the CCTV footage and nabbed the prime accused Ajay Kumar Vinod Jaiswal (34) in the case on August 10. Jaiswal reportedly confessed the crime on being arrested and also revealed the names of his associates in the case. Following the same, Akram Choudhari (34) and Munna Yadav (28) were arrested.
Vasai railway police inspector Bapusaheb Bagal said that survivor is currently traumatised and being assisted by a group of counsellors. He added that she will also be rehabilitated and given vocational training.
