Mumbai Police arrested a man from the Malad region of the city for allegedly demanding sexual favours from a woman in exchange for a role in films.
As per a report by ANI, the accused man has been identified as Omprakash Raju Tiwari who claims to be a casting director. Senior Inspector of Malad police, Dhananjay Ligade told the agency, “The complainant, a Bengali woman registered a complaint with the police on January 6. A casting director had offered her work in a film on a streaming media company, for which he demanded some money from her. Later, he asked the victim to give him some of her intimate pictures to which she refused.”

Later, the accused reportedly made a fake social media account and tried to convince the complainant woman to give him some of her intimate pictures for helping her land a role in films. The Inspector stated that the accused allegedly started asking for sexual favours from the woman in exchange for work.

“When she refused, he made her intimate, nude pictures viral among her friends. After this, she registered a complaint with the police,” the inspector said.
Ligade added that on receiving the complaint, the police filed a case against the accused under the sections 354 (a) (b) of the India Penal Code. The mentioned section deals with assault or criminal force used against a woman with the intention of disrobing or compelling her to be naked.
The punishment for such crime is minimum three years if not extended to seven years in addition to a fine. The accused casting director has also been booked under the IT act. He was arrested by the Malad police on Tuesday.
“The police is investigating into the matter. We are looking if some other woman was his victim in the past,” Ligade added.
