Two minor Dalit girls found dead in Unnao, another found unconscious: In Uttar Pradesh, three minors aged 13, 16 and 17, were found in an unconscious condition in their family-owned field, with their hands and legs tied up. As per their family, the girls had gone out to cut grass, in order to feed their cattle. Two of the three girls are dead, while the third one is undergoing treatment in Kanpur.

The UP police have formed six teams to investigate this case of the mysterious death of minor Dalit girls in Asoha block of Unnao district in UP.

Police have found no signs of struggle at the site and no injury marks on either of the girls in their initial investigation. The girls aged 13 and 16 were declared dead on their arrival at the hospital, while the 17-year-old is in a critical condition.

According to The Indian Express, the older girls were sisters, while the 13-year-old deceased was their cousin. While the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, police suspect it to be a case of poisoning. The claim that the three girls were found tied up was made by their brother.

“They had gone to the farm to collect grass. Today, they got late returning, so we went to look for them. We found them tied up, with clothes like their chunni,” he told reporters.

The family of the minors has not revealed any instance of personal enmity. Senior police officials including Inspector General (IG) and ADG visited the place where the three girls were allegedly found tied up in an unconscious state.

Three minor Dalit sisters were attacked with an unknown chemical when they were sleeping in their house in the Parsapur area of Gonda district in October last year. According to reports, the girls, aged eight, twelve, and seventeen years, were sleeping on their house’s first floor at the time of the attack. Their father, who was sleeping on the ground floor, has no clue who the attacker(s) could be. However,  he told police officials that a ladder may have been used to climb up to the first floor. The girls’ family has claimed that they were attacked with “acid”. Read more about it here.
