Man Shoots Suicide Video of Wife: In Atmakur town of Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, a 38-year-old was arrested for abetting his wife’s suicide. The man also recorded the act and also shared the video with his wife’s family, the police said.
The police said that the man named Moddu Penchalaiah ‘pushed’ his 35-year-old wife Kondamma to kill herself. He also allegedly mentally and physically assaulted her for over 13 years. The police arrested the man on Wednesday after he sent the suicide video to his wife’s family members.
Sub-inspector P Shivashankar of Atmakur police station told Indian Express, “Our investigation revealed that he sent the video to his wife’s family and relatives saying it was proof that he did not kill her. However, the video proves he taunted and prodded her to take the extreme step. Prior to recording the video, he abused her and accused her of infidelity.”
The accused was booked under section 498 A of IPC which involves ‘any wilful conduct which is of such a nature as likely to drive a person to commit suicide or to cause grave injury or danger to life, limb or health and abetment of suicide). He was sent to police remand on Friday by a local court. The police said the man used to work as security guard at an ATM. The couple had two children aged 11 and 10. He was always in inebriated condition and was constantly suspecting his wife, the police said.
The woman had returned to her family in Kothapalli village along with her children. But the elders of the family intervened in the matter and made her return to her husband, as per the police. Kondamma started working as a resource persons at the MIssion for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) office in Atmakur. She was reportedly getting paid Rs 6,000 per month. The police said that the husband used to visit her office often to check on her and would constantly pick up fights with her in front of her colleagues.
The woman’s brother claimed to the police that Kondamma used to call him while crying and complained about torture.
