Jaipur rape case: The city rural police on Friday claimed to have solved the alleged rape and murder case of a four-year-old girl within 24 hours of recovering her body. As many as 700 police personal worked together nonstop to arrest the accused man. The minor’s alleged rape and death had led to protests in the area.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening when the girl was allegedly kidnapped and her body was found on Thursday in an isolated area near a water pond, around 3 km away from her house in rural Jaipur, NDTV reported. According to police superintendent Shankar Dutt Sharma, the investigating officer, finding the accused, identified as 25-year-old Suresh Kumar, wasn’t an easy task as he wasn’t carrying mobile phone on him.
Sharma added Kumar was on his way home when kidnapped the girl from outside her house and took her to an isolated place. He then allegedly raped and murdered her. Sharma added there was not even a clue in the beginning but her family members and villagers refused to take the body and started a dharna at a health centre under the Narena police station area in Jaipur rural on Thursday, seeking justice.
Nabbing the accused became a top priority for the police and Sharma acted on the case immediately while engaging all three additional SPs, five DSPs and 26 SHOs under him to solve it. Following the incident, he formed a team, in total comprising seven hundred police personnel, who worked the case to capture the 25-year-old absconding man. Teams were formed and around 20 suspects were picked, the SP told reporters.
Sharma said his team was under a lot of pressure as hundreds of people gathered to protest seeking arrest of the accused. Finally, the efforts of 700 personnel paid off in less than 24 hours. The SP also added that the accused continued to change his location but they coordinated with local residents via a WhatsApp group and that too helped in tracking him. He was finally arrested on Friday night.
The accused hails from a village which comes under the Narena police station, police said, adding that he has been married for five years. He said the interrogation is underway.
