Jada Pinkett Smith is all set to star in an upcoming Netflix movie called Redd Zone, produced by Westbrook Studios. Based on a true story, the film will feature Pinkett Smith essaying the character of Tia Magee, a single mother who helps her sons and their high school football teammates – dubbed ‘The Bros’ - heal from the trauma caused by the murder of their best friend, a high school student and star football player Dominic Redd.

As per Variety, the upcoming movie will pay homage to Redd’s life. It will trace Tia Magee’s life as all 17 of ‘The Bros’ move into her house after Redd’s murder. Eventually, all of them go to college with four of them even making it to the National Football League. Notably, Magee’s son, Brandon Magee went on to become a linebacker for the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before being drafted by the Boston Red Sox. He thanked Pinkett Smith via Instagram for all the love that she has given the project. Pinkett Smith will also co-produce the movie alongside Miguel Melendez, Jon Mone, Westbrook Studios co-president and head of motion pictures, and Emmy-nominee Howard Burkons. Additionally, Brandon Magee will executive produce the project.

Actress-producer Jada Pinkett Smith, who is married to Hollywood star Will Smith, is known for championing the projects of filmmakers from minority communities. She has previously served as executive producer for Hala, directed by Minhal Baig, Sprinter, an award-winning Jamaican film directed by Storm Saulter, and Charm City Kings, directed by Angel Manuel Soto. Her current projects include The Matrix 4 as an actor and King Richard as an executive producer. She will also be co-hosting the popular Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk, alongside her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and daughter, Willow Smith.
