Indian Female Authors Head To Mumbai for Women Writers Festival 2018

Meet more than forty amazing authors across genres and languages at the SheThePeople Women Writer's Festival. The Mumbai edition will be held at Title Waves in Bandra on Feb 23, and at Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai on Feb 24. This edition of the SheThePeople.TV Women Writers’ Fest has been bifurcated between two venues to enable a larger participation of people from across Mumbai, both South Mumbai and the suburbs.

Putting the spotlight on women writers, The Women Writers’ Festival 2018 will encompass both fiction and nonfiction writing, from parenting, speculative fiction, crime writing, business writing, gender issues, urban living as well as new media like blogging. The carefully curated panels with offer insights into issues that concern us all, making the next generation read books in the age of social media, building a social media brand, gender violence and women in the city, the need for more speculative fiction, the rise of the graphic novel and more. The festival will also feature powerhouse spoken poetry performances as well as music by thought-provoking performers on gender issues.

In this edition of the SheThePeople Women Writers Fest, we have fabulous speakers like Annie Zaidi, Meghna Pant, Elsa Marie D’Silva, Anjali Kirpalani, Aanam Chashmawala, Ila Johari, Kiran Manral, Shaili Chopra, Prerna Sinha, Kavya D’Souza, Ishmeet Nagpal, Sameera Khan, Ramya Pandyan, Harnidh Kaur, Priya Malik, Sukanya Venkatraghavan, Maya Bathija, Sonia Golani, Gunjan Jain, Abhijit Kini, Neelam Kumar, Priyanka Paul, Vivek Tejuja, Payal Kapadia, Ruchita Dar Shah, Swati Popat Vats, Preeti Vyas, Manisha Lakhe, Sujata Dev, Seema Sonik Alimchand, Koral Dasgupta, Puja Changoiwala, Shatrujeet Nath, Tara Deshpande Tennebaum, Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal, Mrinmayee Ranade, Renuka Khot, Meghana Bhuskute, and many more discussing a range of diverse topics.

Day 1, 23rd at Title Waves will see Sagarika Ghose chatting about Speaking Her Mind

Day 2, 24th at Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai will have Sahitya Akademi awarded author Kiran Nagarkar discuss his latest book, Jasoda, which is an unflinching examination of gender issues and female foeticide.

The SheThePeople.TV Women Writers' Fest was held across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata last year. This edition of the festival is curated by Founder Shaili Chopra and Ideas Editor Kiran Manral.

Founder Shaili Chopra says, “We need to celebrate writing across genres, way beyond literature. We have women ahead in screenwriting, short stories, business and entrepreneurship, fiction, environment, some fantastic columnists and more. As part our effort to do more with writers across India, this is a first of a kind festival that promises to ignite rising minds.”
