Chitrakoot Gangrape Case:

The incident took place in 2017 when a woman from the Chitrakoot district was gangraped. In her complaint, she named the UP minister and others as accused persons. She had also alleged that Prajapati tried to commit the same crime with her daughter. When the woman raised her voice against this, Gayatri Prajapati and her associates threatened to kill the woman and her family. After this, the victim filed a petition in the Supreme Court to register the case.

Apart from the minister, Amarendra Singh, Rupeshwar, Ashish Shukla, Ashoka Tiwari, Vikas Verma and Chandrapal were also charged in the case. The apex court had to intervene in the matter only then Prajapati was booked in the case when a complaint was registered at the Gautampalli police station in Lucknow.

All the accused persons were arrested and sent to jail. Last year in September, Prajapati was granted interim bail of two months by the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court on medical grounds.

The High Court bench was then rapped by the Supreme Court Bench led by Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy and MR Shah citing that all material records were not considered while granting bail.
