The police has finally arrested Haryana BJP Chief, Subhash Barala’s son, Vikas Barala and his friend on charges of stalking and kidnapping in the Chandigarh Stalking Case. The men were arrested after a three-hour long interrogation and concrete evidence. The duo is booked under sections 365 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“A detailed interrogation of both (Ashish and Vikas) took place; two charges have been pressed against them. Attempt of abduction under two sections 365 and 511. We’ve decided to arrest both accused.” Chandigarh DGP Tejinder Singh Luthra told media-persons at a press briefing.

DGP Luthra said that the accused will be presented before the court on Thursday, where the police will demand custody. “There is no political pressure on us and we are doing everything professionally and objectively,” he added.
As evidence, the police officials have retrieved the CCTV footage of the route on which the woman was allegedly chased.
It was on Friday night that the incident took place when Varnika Kundu, the daughter of a senior IAS officer, lodged a complaint that Vikas Barala, the son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala and his friend Ashish Kumar were stalking her on the streets of Chandigarh. She was travelling from by car and was on her way back home.
A senior official had earlier told TOI that the cops were trying to gather footage of cameras installed at private properties on the route specified by the woman for concrete evidence.
The incident had gathered limelight when Varnika took to Facebook to speak about the matter. In her Facebook post, she mentioned how she was chased by for 7 kilometers.
