BSF jawan beats wife to death: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan and 11 other people have been booked for the alleged murder of the jawan’s wife in Shamshabad area of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on November 1. The jawan allegedly beat his wife to death and later, with the help of others, hung her body to make it look like a suicide.
The Border Security Force (BSF) Jawan was posted at Barmer in Rajasthan. The case against 32-year-old Satyaveer Singh and 11 others for murder and staging the deceased death as suicide, was filed by the police on basis of the complaint made by the deceased woman’s family. Singh is currently in police custody.
According to a Times of India report, two separate first-person reports (FIRs) were registered against the accused persons. One was registered on charges of murder by the family of the deceased and the other was registered against Singh for misbehaving with and manhandling the police after they reached his home.
The deceased woman, Meera, was 28-year-old and had been married to the jawan for more than a decade. The couple had two children–an eight-year-old son and a six-year-old daughter. According to the information provided by the police, Singh was posted with Battalion 50 and was on leave when the incident took place. Amongst other people accused of compliance in the murder was Singh’s younger brother, who also is a jawan posted at Signal division in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
As per the initial investigation, several marks on the women’s body were found and the police are waiting for an autopsy report to take the case forward. However, they believe that a matrimonial dispute was the reason behind the incident as this was not the first time that Singh had assaulted his wife.
According to a statement by Lakhan Singh, father of the deceased, he received a call early on November 1 and on reaching her daughter’s place, found her dead. The brother of the deceased, Ravinder alleged that the marks on the body of his sister were of the belt, which was often used by Singh to beat her.
